SULIS DESIGN CENTRE AND GALLERY
..... is a collective of eleven Artists and Craftworkers from the North East Region of Ireland and provides the unique opportunity to meet the artist/maker.
The Design Centre has a wide range of contemporary and traditional Crafts, Fine Art Painting and Scultpure. The Gallery exhibits both local and national Artists.

Elaine Hoey Mixed-media Artist
Elaine studied Fine Art and Sculpture at NCAD. She spent the following years, immersed in Community Arts Development in Drogheda Co. Louth, working mostly with young people,co-ordinating multi-faceted developmental arts programmes including, public art works ,street theatre, festivals, national and regional youth programmes, exhibitions, arts based trans-national exchange programmes, through visual art, music , dance and performance.
Elaine is a mixed-media artist who works mainly creating two dimensional light art. She is inspired by visual media, billboards, the world of the consumer junkie, and by such artists as Gilbert and George and David Hockey . Her new series of work for 2010 “Reproduce X” explores such themes as the illusion and exploitation of beauty, manipulation by mass media and our emotional responses through the dramatic fusion of images, text, colour and light.
Other exhibitions include Basement Gallery Dec 08 with Louth Craftmark Designers, Sulis Design Centre, Hogans Bar, Upstairs in South Great Georges Street, Dublin.( Bar recently rewiewed in Cara Magazine June 09 Aerlingus and Travel guide) She has also just completed March 09, a large collection of light pieces for The Blue Bar, Skerries, Dublin

REPRODUCE X series by Elaine Hoey _ Sol Art Gallery, Dawson Street, Dublin.
Emerging artist Elaine Hoey`s complete series of work Reproduce x will go on exhibition at the Sol Art Gallery 6th August to 20th August 2010. Elaine is a mixed media artist whose passion is light and using lighting to create subversive paradoxes. Fusing photo collage with perspex, the lighting acts as an internal spotlight, seeping through her ironic and sometimes darkly humorous subjective commentary on cultural ideologies and our illusions. Her solo exhibition will open officially Friday 6th August at 7pm. All welcome.
